I love this scene, and I wish it was talked of more. Matthew Macfadyen did such an exemplary job. The manner in which Darcy comes bursting into the room is so reflective of how he’s feeling that I can’t stand to fathom how Elizabeth couldn’t have caught it. He’s ready to explode with his love for her. He paces the room slightly and plays with his hands, doing his best to avoid looking at her while wanting to do nothing else at the same time. He can’t get himself to say it right, and, finding him to be a perfectionist, he doesn’t say anything at all. He’s so embarrassed that he simply has to leave rather hastily. It’s such a perfectly executed scene that gives me the giggles every time I watch, because it’s incredibly adorable.
